Many people blame reflux for symptoms that have nothing to do with it. Here we list all the unexpected symptoms you may experience due to acid reflux, along with some that have nothing to do with it.
1. Severe chest pain
Most times the chest pain you’re experiencing could come from acid reflux instead of a heart attack. Pain from a heart attack is mostly experienced in your left arm but it may also be in your chest. It is easy to be confused between the two.
Patients regularly come to the ER thinking because they may be experiencing a heart attack when it’s simply an acute attack of acid reflux. Sometime it can also be the other way around, so when in doubt, always go to the ER.
2. Bitter taste in your mouth
Gastric juices consist mostly of hydrochloric acid. Reflux cause you to have sour/bitter taste in your mouth and throat because acid tastes bitter (just like vinegar).
